Every CO2 supplier we could find in the Detroit area (Michigan) was checked one by one, and 15 of them made the list. 2 will refill the cylinder you walk in with. 2 only swap it for a different tank, which matters if yours is new or an odd size. 11 would not confirm either way, so those are marked call to confirm rather than guessed at. 4 confirm food grade CO2 for anything you actually drink; the common sizes here are 5lb; most cover welding, industrial, soda.

Official current walk-in service page explicitly offers approved CO2 cylinder refill for compatible food-grade applications and verifies current hours. The same page references CO2 cylinder hydrotesting up to 100 lb, but that is not treated as an explicitly supported refill size. Official contact information verifies the Royal Oak location, phone, and service email.
Official current site verifies the active Detroit location, phone, email, and in-house extinguisher recharge and hydrotesting capability. Current official company materials verify the Lincoln Park branch remains active. Baker's current industrial-gas materials list carbon dioxide, including food and beverage applications, and current company location materials describe full-service cylinder-gas exchange operations in Southeast Michigan. Branch-specific food-grade certification, exact CO2 exchange sizes, and current public store hours were not verified.
Current official site identifies Komer Carbonic as a Detroit-area CO2 and beer-gas supplier serving bars and restaurants, which is branch-relevant beverage-grade-equivalent evidence for food_grade=yes. Current local business evidence verifies the physical Detroit address and phone, while the official site publishes the business email. Portable refill versus exchange behavior, supported cylinder sizes, and reliable public hours were not established.
Official current compressed-gas page verifies the Detroit operation and states that Leonard's supplies bulk CO2 and high-pressure cylinders for food, beverage, industrial, and cultivation customers. It explicitly describes beverage-grade CO2 at 99.9%+ purity. Official contact information verifies the phone and public sales email. Portable customer-cylinder refill versus exchange behavior, exact sizes, and regular public hours were not established.
Official current site verifies the Detroit business, address, phone, email, and hours and lists carbon dioxide among supplied gases. Current company materials explicitly identify certified food-grade CO2 for food and beverage applications. Public branch evidence does not clearly distinguish same-cylinder refill from exchange for portable CO2 cylinders, so service_type and accepts_customer_tanks remain unknown.
Official current branch page verifies the active Wixom location, address, phone, and hours. Recent Detroit-area customer evidence identifies this exact branch as performing same-cylinder CO2 refills, including a 5 lb cylinder, with the cylinder returned after filling. Corporate general email is used because no branch-specific public email was found. Food-grade status was not explicitly verified. Same-cylinder refill is not confirmed. One customer account describes a cylinder being returned after filling, but MATHESON branches elsewhere are reported as exchange only, so we have left this open rather than guess. Call to check before you go.
Official current branch page verifies the exact Auburn Hills location, phone, branch-specific email, hours, and carbon dioxide availability. Portable refill versus exchange behavior, food-grade status, and supported cylinder sizes were not published.

Official current branch page verifies the Livonia location, phone, branch-specific email, hours, and carbon dioxide availability. Older branch-specific community evidence described sending a customer's 5 lb cylinder away for same-cylinder refill, while fresher 2026 Detroit-area Airgas reports emphasize exchange service. Because those moat signals conflict in freshness, service_type, accepts_customer_tanks, and tank_sizes are left unknown.
Official current branch page verifies the exact Wixom location, phone, branch-specific email, regular weekday hours, and carbon dioxide availability. Portable refill versus exchange behavior, food-grade status, and supported cylinder sizes were not established.
